Products I Love

People are always asking me what my favorite kitchen gadgets are. Well, let me tell you – the list is long. There are so many tools and gadgets that I love to use. Some of these are necessary kitchen tools, some are just for fun, and some are just because I’m a food geek that loves a lot of random, really cool gadgets to help make cooking a little easier.

I want to preface all of this by saying this list is by no means everything that I have in my kitchen. This is a guide to all of my favorite products that I have used, whether it be at home, in culinary school, or at my job. Some of these are things that I do in fact own and love, and some of these are on my wish list.

I will be adding to this list as I think of other things I can’t live without. Which happens everyday. 🙂

{I have no affiliation with any of these products. I truly love all of them and have not been sponsored by any of these companies to promote their product.}

Appliances

KitchenAid Stand Mixer

A KitchenAid Stand Mixer is one of the best investments to make if you do a good amount of cooking and baking. Making things like cookie dough or breads is made so much easier in one of these. Although they are a bit pricey, they will last you a lifetime and you will be so happy you have one.

Vitamix Onyx Pro 300 Blender

This is seriously the best blender on the market. Not only can you make the smoothest smoothies in a Vitamix, but you can also blend soups to a seriously creamy consistency, make all different types of frozen desserts, and chop up a laundry list of veggies in it. If you are going to buy a blender, this is the one to get. I cannot wait for the day when I can purchase one of these without having to get a second job. They are pricey, but most definitely worth it.

KitchenAid Food Processor

This KitchenAid Food Processor is a cook’s best friend. If you have a recipe that calls for a multitude of ingredients to be chopped, placing them in your food processor will cut your prep time down substantially. I use mine for mostly chopping, but you can also make pie doughs in them, blend soups, grate cheese, and so many more things. These are definitely a more affordable kitchen appliance and money well spent too!

Cusinart Ice Cream Maker

If you have never had homemade ice cream before, you are seriously missing out. It is a simple process to begin with, and having an ice cream maker makes it that much easier. Once you make the custard, you pop it in your ice cream maker and 20 minutes later, you have an amazingly creamy, homemade ice cream. And, the best part of all of this? You can come up with your own flavors!!

Cuisinart Waffle Maker

Who doesn’t love waffles? Having one of these in your kitchen is the best excuse to have lazy weekend mornings. I love mine and use it all the time. I know that some people may think that an expensive appliance that really only has one use is not really a wise purchase – and I completely understand that. I just know that I use mine often and always am so glad that I own one whenever I am in the mood for waffles.

Cookware

All Clad Stainless Steel 10 Piece Set

A really great, everyday set of pans is a must for anyone who cooks. The right pans can make all the difference. These are definitely a pretty pricey kitchen item. But – these will last you a lifetime if they are taken care of properly, and they are also something you will get use out of everyday. A few non-stick pans are also really great to have on hand for those dishes that require one, but a great stainless steel set will allow you to make a lot. These are also great because they can go straight from the stove top to the oven without damaging them.

Le Creuset Square Grill Pan

Along with a really great set of everyday pans, a grill pan is one to add to that family. Grilling is something we all love to do, but sometimes the climate does not cooperate well enough for us to grill outdoors. Having a good grill pan doesn’t really replace the great flavors from a charcoal grill, but it will give you the charred flavor that your outdoor grill gives you. I love using mine because it is way easier clean up than using the outdoor grill. There are more affordable brands out there, but this is a reliable brand and they come in lots of really cute colors!

Utensils

Microplane Zester

A Microplane zester is a great tool to have. In a lot of my recipes, I use the zest of citrus fruits and having a grater really makes it easy to get the zest from these fruits. These are also really great to use if you need to grate cheese or chocolate. I have had one for years and use it all the time. They are also a really affordable utensil that you will get lots of use from.

Strainer

A fine mesh strainer is great for so many things other than draining pasta. They are so great to have if you are making sauces that you want smooth. They are also great when you make egg based custards such as ice cream. They are also great to use if a recipe is calling for you to sift flour or powdered sugar. I don’t have one of these in my kitchen and I am always finding myself wishing that I had one. They would make certain recipes so much easier for me if I had one.

Cutting Board

A good cutting board is one of the best things you can have in your kitchen. I always feel that when I have a nice, big cutting board I am more organized while I’m cooking. It is also really important to know how to secure your cutting board so that while you are cutting, your board isn’t moving all over your counter top. This can be really dangerous while using a knife. The way to do this is to wet a paper towel or a kitchen towel and lay it flat underneath your cutting board. This will keep the board from moving around while you chop.

Wooden Spoon

A wooden spoon is an essential kitchen utensil. I use mine all the time. They are super affordable and have so many different uses that I would find it hard to believe it if someone said they didn’t need one in their kitchen.
